FAQ
This page is for those who want to know more about DogLux and how we operate our salon. It can be confusing to know all the in’s and out’s, especially if it is your first time taking your dog to a salon. Many salons are run different- this is how we, at DogLux, have decided to run it.
How to make an appointment? First, the best and most effective way to make an appointment to call the salon number. During that conversation we will gather information about your pet, the service that best suits your pets needs (full groom or bath or tidy up), when the best time and which groomer and any other questions you might have. If it is after hours- we will call you back - so please leave a detailed message .If you message us on Instagram or Facebook, it will take us longer to reply, just simply because we do not have time in the day for checking social media- (except to take that cute picture of your dog of course)- mostly because we are grooming :)
How long will my dog be there? Our appointments are generally 2- 4 hours long. Your dog is scheduled for a time block and when they arrive, we will start their service. Depending on the dog, the temperament, and how well your dog does with each (bath, blow dryer, trimming) - That will ultimately dictate the time it will take us. After they are done, they will be kenneled and you will be texted and called for pick-up. We can arrange, by special request at the time of appointment, an early drop off or late pick up. There are days we won’t be able to accommodate such requests so it will have to be a case by case basis. We do, however, realize people have busy lives, so we will try to accommodate if we can! Sometimes your dog will be done earlier than 2 hours and we will let you know- but please, don’t expect it every time. Finally, showing up for your appointment on time will help keep us timely.
Why does my dog shake when we come to the groomers? Some dogs are more anxious than others. Most dogs stop shaking when their owners leave. While not every dog loves the groomers - believe or not - most don’t mind and many love it! We will tell you if we think your dog’s anxiety is overly concerning, and we can offer possible solutions- BUT often they will grow out of it and or significantly reduced. Remember, do not feed their anxiety at drop off and pick up. Please be happy and positive and leave goodbyes short and sweet - by doing so, your dog will be less anxious.
Why does my dog have to be shaved so short? I brush and wash her! and I like the long look! First, we are not going to shave your dog a length without your consent. That said, if your dog has matting at check-in and the groomer does hands on pet, we will let you know the best length based off of your pets current coat condition. Often, people will brush over matting and not realize impacted hair. Additionally, water and bathing will tighten mats. Sometimes we can just shave the mats and leave some long, but often to have an even cute cut - we will need to go shorter IF your dog is matted. We are more than willing to demonstrate the proper tools, tricks and techniques to brush out your dog daily if you want maintain a longer length without matting - giving you a chance to start over. Lastly, regular grooming appointments help to maintain a long length.
What is expected at drop off and pick up? Do you accept tips? Do I pay first or after? When you first arrive, we will either have you fill out a new client form, or verify phone number if you are an existing client. Your groomer will then come out and great you and your dog and discuss cut, length, and services. This often involves the groomer checking your dogs coat for matting or shedding . At pick up, we will call you and text you for pick up. It is best not to come before, because if we are still working on your dog on the table, and they see you- it makes it near to impossible to finish and can be dangerous. It is never a good idea to use scissors near an excited moving target. Once you arrive for pick up, we will check you out and then bring your dog out to you. You can re-book then if you’d like. We are a service industry so a tip is always appreciated by your groomer but never required.
